Refund policy

We want you to end up with the right part. If something's gone wrong — or you've simply changed your mind — here's how it works.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

For major failures, you are entitled to a replacement or refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You're also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure doesn't amount to a major failure.

A major failure includes where the product:

  • is significantly different from the description, sample or demo model you were shown
  • is substantially unfit for its normal purpose and can't easily be made fit within a reasonable time
  • is unsafe
  • has a problem that would have stopped you buying it if you'd known about it

Nothing in this policy limits those rights. The change-of-mind terms below are something we offer on top of your legal rights, not instead of them.

Faulty, damaged or incorrect items

Please check your order as soon as it arrives.

  • Damaged in transit — email us at sales@jdmhouse.com.au within 24 hours of delivery with photos of both the item and the outer packaging. We need that window to lodge a claim with the carrier. Missing the window doesn't cancel your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, but it does make the claim harder for everyone, so please don't sit on it.
  • Wrong item sent — tell us and we'll sort it. We cover return freight and get the right part out to you.
  • Faulty item — tell us what's happened and send photos or video if you can. We'll assess it, and where the ACL applies you'll get a repair, replacement or refund. Where the failure is major, you choose between a refund and a replacement. Where it isn't major, we may choose to repair it.

We cover return freight on faulty, damaged or incorrect items. You don't pay to send back something that was our fault or the manufacturer's.

Some parts need to go back to the manufacturer or importer for assessment before a warranty outcome is confirmed. We'll tell you upfront if that's the case and keep you posted on timing.

Change of mind

We'll accept a change-of-mind return within 30 days of delivery, provided the item is:

  • unused, uninstalled and in the same condition you received it
  • in its original packaging, complete with all hardware, fittings and instructions
  • accompanied by proof of purchase

For change-of-mind returns:

  • You pay the return freight.
  • A restocking fee applies to cover our original outbound freight and payment processing costs. We'll quote it to you before you commit, so there are no surprises.
  • Refunds are issued to your original payment method.

We can't accept change-of-mind returns on:

  • Fitted or installed parts — once it's been bolted on, run, or test-fitted with damage, it's no longer resaleable
  • Fitted tyres — once a tyre has been mounted on a rim it can't be returned for change of mind
  • Custom, made-to-order and special-order items — including ECUs and harnesses built or configured to your spec, and parts ordered in specifically for you
  • Clearance and final-sale items
  • Gift cards

To be clear: those exclusions are about change of mind only. If any of those items is faulty, not fit for purpose or not as described, your consumer guarantee rights still apply in full.

Wrong fitment

If you order a part that doesn't suit your car, that's a change-of-mind return under the terms above. We'd much rather you didn't end up there — ring us on 0449 887 291 before you order and we'll confirm fitment for your exact model, year and setup. It costs you nothing and it saves everyone the freight.

How to start a return

  1. Email sales@jdmhouse.com.au with your order number, what you're returning and why. Photos help.
  2. We'll come back to you with a return authorisation, the address to send it to, and instructions.
  3. Pack the item properly — ideally in its original box, inside an outer carton. Items damaged on the way back because of poor packaging may not be refunded in full.

Please don't send anything back before you've contacted us. Unannounced returns can't be tracked to an order and we may not be able to accept them.

Refund timing

Once your return arrives and we've inspected it, we'll email you to confirm the outcome. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days. Your bank or card issuer may take a few days more to show it.

If it's been more than 15 business days since we told you your refund was approved and it still hasn't landed, email us at sales@jdmhouse.com.au and we'll chase it.

Exchanges

The fastest way to swap a part is to return the one you have and place a new order for the one you want, so the item you need isn't sitting on hold. If you'd rather we arrange a straight exchange, ring us and we'll work it out.

Workshop work

Our tyre fitting, balancing, puncture repair and wheel alignment services also come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law — the work must be done with due care and skill, and be fit for purpose. If you're not happy with a job we've done, bring the car back and talk to us. We'd rather see it and fix it than have you drive around unhappy.
